Orlando, Florida – November 28, 2023 – Metris Global (“Metris”), a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business committed to delivering the most effective, most comprehensive array of organizational and advanced, agile human performance improvement solutions, and its partner Kore.ai, today announced it has been selected as one of four semi-finalists in the U.S. Navy’s Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) AI Challenge.
RRL, the Navy’s long-term modernization effort focused on improving individual Sailor performance and enhancing fleet readiness, requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders throughout Industry and the Navy. The RRL AI challenge, announced in October 2023, aimed to identify solutions that address a critical barrier in effectively implementing Instructional Systems Design (ISD) Analysis across U.S. Navy waterfront, flight line and afloat units.
“Our automated RRL solution will bolster and expedite USN Instructional Systems Design Analysis processes, enabling training interventions to be optimally selected, updated and created for faster Fleet-responsive learning.” said Timothy L. Haws, USCG, CAPT (Ret.) and director of human performance technology at Metris Global. “The leveraging of large language model (LLM)-AI into proven human performance technologies has exciting potential positive impacts for every military workforce.”
Downselected from 14 entries, the Metris-Kore.ai team is one of four who will present and demonstrate their solution, an AI-powered virtual assistant bot called the “USN RRL ISD Advisor,” to the Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) AI Challenge sponsored by the Central Florida Tech Grove, in partnership with Team Orlando, Office of Naval Research (ONR), Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD), and National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) on December 13.
“At Kore.ai we have been a leading provider of advanced AI technology for more than a decade, and are confident in our ability to deliver rapid, cost effective training innovation to address next-generation training needs for our military,” said Praneet Gill, chief strategy officer at Kore.ai.
“For more than a decade, this team has been at the forefront of looking beyond existing training modalities, integrating the advancements in both technology and methodology that are necessary to optimize readiness for our nations servicemembers,” said Thomas Heckens, CEO and founder of Metris Global. “The acceleration of technology is staggering. This teaming agreement with Kore.ai is a testament to the caliber of our industry partners, the strength of our expertise, and is a great example of how Industry can work together to investigate and ultimately deliver next-generation training models at the pace of relevance.”
