Orlando, FL — Metris Global, a proud provider of training services for the U.S. Coast Guard, commends the actions of Petty Officer 3rd Class Scott Ruskan, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer whose efforts during the recent flooding in Kerrville, Texas, contributed to the successful evacuation of more than 230 individuals.
According to an official U.S. Coast Guard report, Petty Officer Ruskan was part of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew deployed from Air Station Corpus Christi in response to a request for assistance on July 4. During the mission, he was inserted into an active flood zone to coordinate ground-level evacuations, assist with triage, and support the safe airlift of civilians impacted by rising waters. His actions directly supported one of the largest flood response operations carried out by Coast Guard crews in recent years.
Ruskan’s ability to act under pressure, communicate with clarity, and manage a chaotic environment with compassion exemplifies the values and preparedness instilled through Coast Guard training programs—programs which Metris Global proudly supports. Since 2016, Metris Global has partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard to deliver critical training and performance improvement services across active duty, reserve, and civilian personnel through the Training and Analysis Support Services (TASS) contract.
The successful evacuation was a coordinated effort by the entire MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew deployed from Air Station Corpus Christi, including flight mechanics and pilots operating under extreme conditions. Metris Global is proud to support training for Coast Guard aircrew members as part of its ongoing work with the Training and Analysis Support Services (TASS) program delivered in partnership with Coast Guard training sites, including Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama.
“Petty Officer Ruskan represents the highest ideals of Coast Guard service,” said Thomas Heckens, CEO and founder of Metris Global. “We’re honored to contribute to the kind of training that prepares individuals to lead, act, and serve under the toughest conditions.”
As the affected communities begin the long road to recovery, Metris Global encourages those wishing to assist to consider supporting verified relief efforts.
